Hello and welcome to my site! My name is Derek Giovanni, and I am a photographer that hails from Sacramento, California. So you want to know a little about me? While I do dabble in different types of photography, portraiture is my true passion. I have been shooting professional portrait imagery for the last eight years. There is something I love about working with different people to create stunning portrait imagery. I take pride in providing a calm and comfortable environment for my clients, while also focusing on making sure they receive images that make them happy for years to come.

I grew up in an extremely artistic environment. My father put a bass guitar in my hands when I was a child. I learned everything about playing music and even joined a couple rock bands while in school. I took this artistic passion for music into the theater, and I performed in various musicals in college and beyond. When my daughter was born, I had to re-focus my artistic need to something less time consuming. What did I do? I picked up a camera and started learning everything about how to create stunning images in my own time. Eventually, I started focusing on portrait photography. I fell in love with making people look and feel their absolute best in front of my lens.
